Thomas Grogan is a certified forensic document examiner and court
qualified handwriting expert.
Mr. Grogan has worked in handwriting since
1997 and has served an apprenticeship under renowned handwriting
expert Don Lehew (who has appeared numerous times on the Nancy
Grace Show on CNN Headline News and Court TV) and has also received
training from experts Curt Baggett and Katherine Koppenhaver.
He received supplemental training and certification from the
American Institute of Applied Science.
Thomas deals with national and worldwide cases involving questioned
and disputed documents, medical and insurance fraud, anonymous
letters, handwriting and typewriter identification, ink analysis
and latent fingerprint detection.
In 2004, Thomas Grogan was one of the very first forensic experts
to be accepted and contracted by Handwriting Services International
where he worked alongside such experts as Dr Joe Alexander MD
and Bob Baier.
In 2007, Mr. Grogan founded Forensic Document
Laboratory, Inc. and has continued to provide services to hundreds
of clients ranging from private individuals and law firms to
government and law enforcement agencies. His case load has
included a wide range of situations including (but not limited
to) authenticating a Land Deed written in Germany in the 1700s,
detecting over $550,000 of forged checks from a trust fund, and
the examination of a $92 million contract. In addition, Thomas
Grogan teaches monthly seminars on Identity Theft and it's relation
to forgeries/signatures.
Mr. Grogan works in close association
with Emmy Award winning Dan Starks from WCNC-TV NBC6's "Don't Be a Victim" and "Partners
Against Crime" segments and Starks Training Institute Inc.
Thomas is also an independent instructor with
Forensics 101 Inc, a science education initiative that offers
a wide selection of individual workshops and group programs for
schools, daycares, libraries, church groups, home school groups,
community youth groups, festivals, community events, and more.
Professional
memberships include the North Carolina InfraGard Chapter of the
FBI’s National InfraGard Organization, National Correctional
Peace Officers Foundation, NRA Business Affiliation, North Carolina
Sheriff’s Association and the North Carolina Association
of Private Investigators.
Mr. Grogan is currently a participant with
the FBI Charlotte Citizens’ Academy and a student of ECPI
School of Technology where he is pursuing a degree in IT Network
Security and Management. It is the plan of Forensic Document
Laboratory, Inc to eventually expand our services in 2009 to
include the examination and analysis of Digital Signatures (e-signatures). |
